Hawea Kindergarten - Philosophy Statement

At Hawea Kindergarten the child is the focus. We provide opportunities for each child to engage in sustained, meaningful conversations with their peers and Teachers to enable them to become confident and competent learners. Each child learns in their own way so our programme extends children’s thinking and learning by using their interests as the pathway.

We provide a stimulating environment where children learn through planned and spontaneous experiences with and alongside their peers and Teachers. Our environment reflects the children and their learning and supports them to develop their own working theories about the world around them.

We work in partnership with each child’s family/whānau and community. We value and incorporate parent’s aspirations as being fundamental to their child’s learning and development.

We acknowledge the Treaty of Waitangi and value the importance of incorporating te reo and tikanga Māori into our programme.
